"The Best Of Everything"
"That such an object could remain unknown to experts for over one hundred years seemed barely credible."Next week, Christie's will hold a series of auctions of Russian art, including a Fabergé egg which is one of only twelve known to have been crafted to Imperial standards for private clients, and which went unknown outside the Rothschild family for over a century. It has never before been seen in public. It is one of only three Fabergé eggs with a clock and automaton, in this case a cock that crows on the hour.
