Airbus AD
Scott Jordan has been attending the matter of the Airbus troubles a lot better than me. Now, he sends e-mail pointing out that France has issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive on certain 300 series airplanes. Operators will have to conduct a visual examination and "tap-check".
Jesus knows I'm no serious authority on composite aircraft construction. I have, however, watched some very informed discussion of the matter. From that perspective, tapping on these structures strikes me as about as serious as whistling past a graveyard.
I don't like the look of any of this.
More -- Reader David sends word:
"Maybe if you tap hard enough and the rudder falls off you know you have a problem."That might very well be, but like I said: I'm no expert.
