A Thoroughly Rotten Idea
I once watched an episode on The Military Channel in which an infantryman described the efficacy of the U.S. Army M2 .50-caliber machine gun. "Hollywood has done this weapon a terrible injustice," he said. "To give you some idea, go stand in the middle of an average downtown city block anywhere in America and look around. You will not see a structure anywhere that can protect you from it."
Perhaps I will be excused if I am not excited to thunderous applause by this:
"The Richland County (S.C.) Sheriff's Department has acquired an armored personnel carrier complete with a turret-mounted .50-caliber belt-fed machine gun for its Special Response Team."I do not understand how anyone with a brain in their head could possibly think this is a good idea, given the ethics of law and cops today.
