No Screw Un-Turned
"In the light of day, media types and civilians alike were asking a question last asked during Katrina: Weren't they (officials) WATCHING the coverage on television?"After due consideration, I find that only a broadcaster would ask a question like that about people confronting a situation like that in the coal mine at Tallmansville, West Virginia: as if they had nothing better to do than sit around listening to idiots with microphones blowing more gas in open air than it takes to snuff out a dozen lives underground.
[sigh]
Beyond that, I can only imagine that this story will get worse as it goes along. Principals will say increasingly silly and demented things, and a great deal of it will end up in court, where I fully expect every impulse of the Outraged Prole to be assuaged in premise and practice, and -- in the end -- large sums hanging on a length of twine between tin-cans, across which no rational thought can be expressed because that simply is not the point of the endeavor.
