The Scope And Implications Of A Very Serious Problem
Yo, Mate: should I break it to them? Or, would you rather do it?
Oh, okay, I'll do it.
Here's something that I wrote in private, that appears to have gained a foothold in an otherwise maddening debate:
"The plainly obvious fact of the matter is that life is increasingly cheap in this country. Now, you know this. You know it all over American politics: individuals are the fodder of the culture.I do not presume that this point is the end of the debate, but I have it on good authority that it is something serious to think about.
There is no reason why this aspect of it should be any different, and, in fact, it's not."
The Very Thing
In reflection on Natalie Solent's remarks at Samizdata, I naturally hit on the definition put to me by an old, dear friend some time ago:
"Zealot: someone who knows what God would do if only he had all the facts."
